Welcome to Hooked on Cycling and our walking holidays on Corsica. This hiking vacation on Corsica follows the world famous GR20 hiking trail from North to South and we have created two separate trips which can be combined for a longer walking tour. The GR20, hiking trail was established in 1972 and since has become for a long time legendary among the hikers. It crosses Corsica from North to South and traces a wild and magnificent tour with high mountains, forests, glacial lakes, scrubs. Considered as the most difficult and technical Big Hike of Europe, the GR20 attracts hikers from all over the world looking for a challenge. The south side of the GR20, being considered as easier, is nevertheless destined for experienced hikers. If the relief is less abrupt than in the north, the landscapes remain magnificent and vary everyday. From the Forest of Vizzavona to the Needles of Bavella, here is a carefully studied itinerary for your hike to remain unforgettable!!!

Level 3-4 self guided tour
Day 1 – Arrive Vizzavona
Vizzavona can be reached by bus from Ajaccio - bus leaves at 6am!
Day 2 Vizzavona to Capanelle.
Beginning of the hike is at the Pass of Vizzavona. This long day begins while climbing to Bocca Palmente. In the heart of the forest of Vizzavona, you will cross several watercourses until Bocca Palmente where the view is splendid. Next, after passing the crest, you will discover several sheepfolds before finally arriving at the sheepfolds of Capanelle where you will spend the night in a refuge. Dinner and night at the Hostel. Hiking time: about 7.75 hours up 1000M, down 400M.
Day 3 Capanelle to the Pass of Verde
From Capanelle, you will go to the sheepfolds of Traggete before attaining the Plateau of Gialgone. You will cross the footbridge of I Spiazzi under which you may swim. You will then descend, protected by the biggest and most majestic Corsican pines, before attaining the Pass of Verde. Dinner and night at a hostel. Hiking time: about 5 hours up 700M, down 950M.
Day 4 Pass of Verde to Cozzano.
You will begin this day by an ascension towards the refuge of Prati and will have beautiful views on the massif of Renosu. The view is at its best when you will reach the crest line and you will be able to view the sea until the Island of Elbe if the weather allows it. Next, you will descend in the middle of big rocky slabs and then will go towards Cozzano, town in the heart of Corsica. Dinner and night at a hostel.
Day 5 Cozzano to the Sheepfolds of Basseta.
This first part of the day will be devoted to the climb towards  Bocca Di l’usciolu. After 1000M of difference in height, you will attain the peak point of the step then will enter into a forest of centennial trees. The path finally descends and the vegetation becomes denser. After the crossing of a stream, you will arrive at the sheepfolds of Basseta. Dinner and night at a hostel. Hiking time: about 6 hours up 887M, down 483M.
Day 6 Bassetta to Bavella
The longest and hardest day of the week! After a passage in the forest, you will cross a footbridge and will continue through former sheepfolds towards the Mount Incudine. Then you will go down to Asinau and reach Bavella and its famous “Aiguilles”. Dinner and night at the gîte. Hiking time around 9 hours, up 982m, down 1100m
Day 7 – Bavella. 
End of the stay after the breakfast. Possibility of departures towards Bastia, Figari, Ajaccio and Calvi.
Difficulty: It is necessary to have a very good physical condition and a steady practice of mountain hiking. From 4.5 to 9 hours of effective hike per day on heavily uneven terrain. It is necessary to be able to orient yourself in mountains with a map scaled to the 1/25000th.
LUGGAGE Transfers: We take care of your luggage transfers
ACCOMMODATION: In gite d’etapes - like a hostel (dormitory type). Hostels are better quality than the refuges along the trail.

How to get there
By plane to Ajaccio or Bastia airports.
STARTING POINT: VIZZAVONA in the morning. We can arrange your transfer to Vizzavona from Bastia, Calvi and Ajaccio.
DROP OFF POINT: BAVELLA. We can arrange your transfer from Bavella to Calvi, Bastia and Ajaccio.
